Question by BirdDog: To support my wife I am thinking about following her diabetic diet with her – Is there any reason not to?
My wife has been a type II diabetic for a few years now. She recently started taking 5mls Byetta. She absolutly will not exercise. The only thing I can think of to help her is to follow the same diet. I have two teenage boys and yes they eat like horses (and don’t show it) and I will continue to supply them with carbs. I am at a loss on how to help my wife from deteriorating. I am currently reading a book by Dr. Bernstein (Diabetes Solution). Please help, I am open to suggestions.

Question by Momiji: What activity could I do to entertain and inform my listeners about diabetes?
I am doing a presentation on diabetes and I need to keep my audience entertained and informed.
What activity could I do to make a presentation about diabetes fun. I already have all the information that I need but it just seems boring especially for a bunch of 17-19 year olds. Can anyone help me? My presentation revolves around teen and adult diabetes if that helps.

Well..
I have type one diabetes and anyone who knows anyone about the disease (as I’m sure you do) knows it’s not something ‘fun’.
But of course, you don’t want to bore your audience to death.

I cannot really think of any way to make if fun, but don’t just throw facts at the audience. Use examples, tell stories, ect. I know what I’m much more interested in a more personal presentation than someone naming stupid statistics.

I am 21 weeks pregnant with my first child and i have been put on this 2200 calorie diabetic diet for high blood sugar during my glucose intolerant test. i have been following it very strictly but everytime i check my blood sugar level it is low…like 75 one time and another 79. is this normal? should i call my doctor? what should i do?

Question by OIL Co. BAD: Question about diabetic diet and food exchanges?
How starches carbohydrates etc. should a diabetic get each day if you are a normal body weight and running blood sugars in the 200′s while on glucophage 500? Doctor wants me to see dietician but don’t have money right now.
So if someone could give me an idea of the average of what a 150 pound adult should get and amount of calories should eat? at least to get me started?

Simple fiber food and not full stomach it will be ok but with some daily exercise.This is the only medicine for a diabetic for the time being. In future may be some good cure
