just adds a little more responsibility. Have to check your blood sugar and take care of yourself. If you do it won’t effect you much. As long as we take care of ourselves we can live a completely normal life! also it’s smart to inform friends/family/co-workers/etc. that we have it.

My friend and I are trying to role play a scene and her character (a detective with diabetes) just dislocated his shoulder. My character is a doctor and I wanted my response to be as medically accurate as possible. Could someone who knows more about diabetes tell me how a trauma like this might affect a person with type 1 diabetes?

Any trauma to the body will affect a diabetic since infection/injury will play a role in altering your numbers. The trauma plus if you have to take antibiotics if your shoulder gets infected or if you have to take painkillers will also affect your diabetes until this injury is fixed.

Question by Fearful: Can diabetic nueropathy affect individual fingers and toes but not others?
I am worried about having diabetes. For months I have been having pain in some of my fingertips and toes. The pain is not constant but very frequent. I have also been having pain in my tailbone with IBS symptoms. Does anyone know if diabetic nueropathy can be like this and if nueropathy can be the first symptom of diabetes?

Yep. But “pain” in the toes is not a good reliable symptom. neuropathy is usually one of the LAST symptoms to appear.

The ONLY way you can tell if you haev diabets or nt is by blood tests taken by a doctro.

Go to your doctro and ASK to be tested Diabtes, Spedifically, ASK the doctor to perform an A1C test, and discuss the results with you.

I am 32 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with gestational diabetes. My doctor wants me to follow a diabetic diet and will repeat the glucose tolerance test in 2 weeks. Does anybody knows that changing to diabetic diet affect the glucose tolerance test? If yes do you think 2 weeks is enough?

Might help some but basically the way your body handles glucose has been altered forever.
A less serious Glucose Tolerance Test may show, but basically is best for you to eat and live like a diabetic from now on.
