Question by Josh: What if your not diabetic what happens if none diabetic gets insulin injection?
what happens if none diabetic gets insulin injection? and its to much just and takes it really low would this happen the same as in a diabetic?

Best answer:

Answer by cluekoo
Insulin’s job is to decrease blood sugar levels by absorbing and storing the sugar as various forms of energy (ie. fat). Diabetics who take insulin have some form of insulin deficiency in their body. A non-diabetic who takes insulin would result in having too much insulin, so their blood sugar will drop. Blood sugar levels must be maintained at a fairly constant level for appropriate body function, and if it drops too low, it can induce seizures or coma.

Question by Dreamweaver: How long can a diabetic person with type one live without insulin?
My grandmother is 90 years old and has congestive heart failure. She also is a diabetic that takes three insulin shots per day. In the last week she had two heart attacks, and the doctors have said there is little more that they can do for her. Monday, Hospice is going to step in and they will take her off all her medications and just give her morphine for pain until she passes away. I am just wondering what will happen to her once they stop giving her the insulin.

Best answer:

Answer by Abbey
well that depends on the person and her blood sugars, she could probably go quite awhile by eating well. In all likeliness it probably wont be the lack of insulin that kills her. Good luck, and best wishes to your grandmother

Question by Mitchy: My cat is diabetic and going to start insulin, please see details?
I am diabetic and have been for over 20 years. I am very familiar with it but does anyone else have a diabetic cat/pet that can help?
I was told to start with Humulin NPH 2 units a day. Then we will retest.
Please tell me if you have had good success with your diabetic pet, and what you do. I want to do all I can to help my pet. Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by Tigger
My parents used to have a diabetic cat. They would give the injections in the loose skin of her neck, then rub it to take the sting out. Afterwards, they would give her some of her favorite food. She didn’t like the shots, but she was always there at the refrigerator when it was time.
