The problem of childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the Latino community. This might be caused by some genetic factors, but mainly the causes are cultural, social, economic, and environmental. The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University, is working to educate the community on healthier behaviors, by teaching them how to make better choices, and not only manage diabetes, but also prevent it.
